Discover Honda Sensing

Honda Sensing®

Now available on more Honda models than ever, Honda Sensing® is the innovative fleet of active safety and driver-assistive technology features that help drivers of new Honda models stay protected while on the road. Whether it’s an incoming collision or a missed speed limit sign, Honda doesn’t ignore the hazards on the road (and neither should you). Honda Sensing® partners with the driver to bring increased awareness, peace of mind and protection to everyone inside — and outside — your Honda sedan, truck, SUV or minivan. But what features are involved in this unique safety system? Keep reading to learn more about how your Honda model keeps you safe.

What is Honda Sensing®

Honda Sensing® is Honda's exclusive intelligent suite of safety and driver-assistive
technologies designed to alert you to things you might miss while driving.1

Features

Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™)
When an unavoidable collision is determined, CMBS™ applies brake pressure to help avoid the vehicle or pedestrian.1

Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)
If you haven’t signaled, RDM adjusts your steering and braking if it senses your vehicle crossing detected lanes.2

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
ACC will maintain your set following interval when driving behind other vehicles.3

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Similar to RDM, the Lane Keeping Assist System adjusts your steering to keep your Honda centered in a detected lane.4

Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)
With the front-facing camera, TSR notifies drivers of posted speed limits by displaying on your available Head-Up Display (HUD).5

Additional Driver-Assistive Technology

But that’s not all. These available Honda Sensing® features can be added to your new Honda as well:

Honda LaneWatch™

Consider it an extra set of eyes. Honda LaneWatch™ turns on a camera feed and displays live video on your center touchscreen anytime you signal right. You’ll see nearly four times more than a standard passenger-side mirror displays.6

Blind Spot Information System

Especially useful for highway driving, Blind Spot Information System will alert drivers when another vehicle is in an adjacent lane with an indicator light on the exterior mirrors and an audible beeping sound.7

Cross Traffic Monitor

Backing out of tight spaces is hard enough. Cross Traffic Monitor helps drivers avoid collisions when reversing by detecting and alerting rear crossing traffic. Your Multi-Angle Rearview Camera will display what’s behind your model, and will display the alerts and indicators.8

Auto High-Beam Headlights

When driving at 25 mph or more during the nighttime, the headlight lever (when in the low-beam position and the switch rotated to AUTO) will transition between low and high beams when it detects an incoming vehicle.9

We're here to help keep you safe on the road. All new 2020 Honda models are equipped with the standard Honda Sensing® system — except for the base trim of the Fit, HR-V and Odyssey — while all new 2021 Honda models except the HR-V LX will come with standard Honda Sensing®. If you have any more questions or would like to see some vehicles with these features in person, don't hesitate to contact us or stop by Honda on Grand at 300 W. Grand Avenue, Elmhurst, IL 60126. We look forward to serving customers from Addison, Chicago and Villa Park.

1CMBS cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

2RDM only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use and can apply mild steering torque to assist driver in maintaining proper lane position and/or brake pressure to slow the vehicle's departure from a detected lane. RDM may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

3ACC cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. ACC should not be used in heavy traffic, poor weather or on winding roads. ACC only includes a limited braking function; driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

4LKAS only assists drivers in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

5TSR cannot detect all traffic signs and may misidentify certain signs. Accuracy will vary based on weather and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for complying with all traffic regulations.

6Honda LaneWatch™ available on Fit, Civic Coupe, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Civic Si Coupe, Civic Si Sedan, Clarity Fuel Cell, Clarity Electric, Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, HR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline. Display accuracy will vary based on weather, size of object and speed, and the display may not show all relevant traffic. The display is not a substitute for your own direct visual assessment of traffic conditions before changing lanes.

7Blind Spot Information System available on Accord, CR-V, Pilot, Odyssey and Ridgeline. The system is not a substitute for your own visual assessment before changing lanes. Blind Spot Information System may not detect all objects behind or to the side of a vehicle and may not detect a given object; system accuracy will vary based on weather, size of object, and speed. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

8Cross Traffic Monitor available on Accord, CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline. Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up, as the Cross Traffic Monitor may not provide complete information about conditions at the rear of your vehicle. Monitor cannot detect all objects behind or to the side of a vehicle and may not detect a given object; system accuracy will vary based on weather, size of object, and speed. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
